Puppy Pals Cumbria was established and is run by Chris Mancini.

I have been involved with training dogs for over 30 years. I have a Diploma with COAPE in Companion animal behaviour; and a member of APDT, UK 00515; I ran puppy and dog training classes for eighteen years in the south of England, and having relocated to Cumbria, I’m now starting classes up here in this beautiful location.

I am a member of the APDT, UK committee, ( and various sub-committees. I helped set up, and instruct on, the APDT, UK Pet Dog Training Instructor’s course and, in 2010 went to South Korea with Val Harvey to deliver the course to Samsung employees.

Part of my APDT membership requires me to keep up to date with continuing professional development, I regularly attend courses and seminars to comply with this.

I am a trainer and assessor for Dog Aid.

I enjoy trick training with my dogs, as well as scentwork, agility and filmwork. Duffie my current dog starred as Tramp in EastEnders, from 2013-14.

I enjoy working with people and their dogs, helping them overcome challenges and see the bond strengthen as communication channels are opened up.

Training should be enjoyable for dogs and owners, and based on solid scientific principles.
Classes are kept to limited numbers, to ensure you get plenty of help

Hi, I’m Katie, I am currently based down in Buckinghamshire but with the magic of Zoom I have been able to start assisting Chris with all the puppy and dog training classes, over the lockdown period, as well as in person when I can manage to get up to Cumbria. Growing up, I spent lots of time travelling to agility and obedience shows with Chris, working her dogs and helping at her training classes in Enfield.

I have always had a real passion for dogs, how they learn and what we as owners can do to get the absolute best out of our dogs by working together as a team. I am looking forward to completing my Part Two Course with the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) later this year after completing the Foundation course in 2020.

I’m Jess and have a special interest in working with dogs who find it challenging to cope in our human world.  I will be offering solo walks for reactive dogs, 1:1 training sessions and assisting Chris with some exciting new workshops.

I’ve spent the last 7 years working for a small rescue centre where I have helped 100’s of dog find their forever homes.  In this role I gained considerable experience teaching dogs essential life skills and in many cases working with behavioural difficulties such as car chasing, dog to dog reactivity, separation related behaviours and resource guarding.  An equally important part of my work has been to coach adopters and give them the tools to build a lifelong bond with their new companion.

I am currently working towards an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Canine) which is an ABTC (Animal Behaviour and Training Council) recognised programme.  I am also proud to be part of the Canine Arthritis Management team of volunteers as a CAMbassador and have completed CAMadvocate Level 1.  I am a bit of a seminar/workshop addict and have attended countless courses over the last 10 years with some amazingly talented trainers and behaviourists – you can never know enough when it comes to dogs!

I live with two slightly bonkers Border collies who keep me entertained and inspired my interest in training and behaviour due to their uniqueness.  We love all aspects of nose work and finding quiet places to walk so they can just enjoy being dogs.
